Welcome to the Department of History!

As a study of the past, history allows us to extend vastly our natural memory into the remote past, to benefit from the experience, not only of our own lifetimes, but of humankind as a whole. It forms the basic of human wisdom and knowledge.

After 4 years studies in history department, students will get good training in both character and scholarship, with good health, to be well educated in the field of history research and many other kinds of professional and business careers.

Students are asked to grasp the basic principles of Marxism, skills of historical analysis and critical reading, a broad general knowledge of history and humanities; to reach a high level of foreign languages; to hold modern research technology and methods of social sciences and humanities.

For Bachelor’s degree, generally in 4 years, students must complete their program which consist of 170 credit hours, by choosing from among historical courses and courses in relative fields offered by departmental and other university faculty, presenting 3 term essays in the first 3 years, producing an original work of history based upon primary sources or an original interpretative essay in their last year. Every student can choose a professor to be his/her adviser, with the help of the coordinator. Students will take in military education for 4 weeks in their first semester, work for landscaping, farming or manufacturing for a week in their fourth semester, and take a social investigation or historical research practice for 10 weeks in the summer in their senior year.
